Say it with a Statement Piece

It can be a bit overwhelming to have to choose 5 different outfits that will express who you are in front of the camera. One of the suggestions made by Buckle is to choose one statement piece that makes you feel your best! Maybe it is your favorite top or a pair of Wranglers that you love. Whatever you choose as your statement piece, use it as the star of the outfit, and choose coordinating pieces that bring attention to that one piece! See Tip #1: Say it with a Statement Piece in this look, we choose a white lace tank with intricate details as the statement piece. The lace, ruffles, and v-neck bodice are eye-catching and allow the top to stand alone. Paired with a simple necklace, a cute pair of cut off jeans and white shoes this look is simple, elegant, and powerful!

Finish off Multiple Looks with the Right Shoes

Let’s take a minute to notice the shoes that Buckle picked out for both of these outfits. They are simple wedges with white straps. Using this basic shoe will allow you to decrease the number of clothing items that you bring to your Senior Session while also introducing consistency to your style and images. When you use Tip #2: Finish off Multiple Looks with the Right Shoes you will have less to worry about the day of your session. This is another reason that we love to send our Seniors to Buckle when they are shopping for clothing for their sessions – Buckle will send you home with a complete head-to-toe look!

Layer Up for a Stylish Look

In this second look put together by the sales associates at Buckle, we use Tip #3: Layer Up for a Stylish Look. Having multiple layers in your outfits will allow you to get multiple looks from one outfit. This will not only enhance your resulting images but, hey it’s a ton of fun! Here are some ways you can add layers to your look. Wear a tank-top & layer a button-up top over it. Try a jumper with a cute tee or tank and a cardigan. Or through on a pair of jeans, a cute tank, and a jean jacket! This is what the stylist at Buckle did for this third look. By using layers to create style you also create multiple looks a=for your photos.

Another great bonus tip is to mix & match prints with solid colors. By using a dark pair of jeans with a bright floral top we were able to bring the focus up towards the face of our Senior. The pop of bright white in the shoes paired with the dark black jeans, accentuates her legs making them look tall and lean. Denim can be paired with denim especially when the denim is two different colors as they are in this look.

Jumpers, Rompers, Bodysuits, and Jumpsuits are all the rage right now and make for a great option when you are considering what you will wear in your Senior Portrait Session. If you don’t know the differences here is a quick rundown. Jumpers are one-piece dresses that are sleeveless and designed to be worn over a top or blouse. Rompers are one-piece garments that combine a top & pants and traditionally have a loose fit. Bodysuits are form-fitting one-piece garments that fit like a swimsuit or leotard. Jumpsuits are one-piece garments that have a distinct attachment piece at the waist between the blouse and pants.

Use Accessories to Take Your Look to the Next Level!

This white lace romper from Buckle is a great example of how a single garment can make a complete look. It is also a great example for Tip #4: Use Accessories to Take Your Look to the Next Level! Here the stylist from Buckle added a long gold necklace with a simple loop. This touch of elegance is mirrored in the gold straps of the cute wedges that she is wearing. You do not want your accessories to compete with the clothing items, location, or your beautiful face! Use accessories for little pops of color (check out these looks), touches of elegance, or stylish trends? When you choosing accessories for your look, it is important to remember to use the accessories to take your look to the next level.

Keep it Casual & Cool by Mixing Skirts & T-Shirts

One of our favorite styling tips from the sales associates at Buckle is Tip #5: Keep it Casual & Cool by Mixing Skirts & T-Shirts. This is an enjoyable way to have a dressed-up look that is not over the top. If you enjoy being casual yet need something a bit more fancy for your senior portraits, this is the top for you! Graphic-tees are always a great option for your senior session. Not only do they allow you to express yourself but they can add a great pop of color or color harmony to your look and a fun rocker vibe!
